Rescue Story

Huang Dou along with his two siblings was born in an abandoned derelict house. Our rescuer fed the puppies’ mother to keep the group alive. When the puppies were around 20 days old our rescuer couldn’t find the mother during the regular daily feeding. Our rescuer asked the people in the neighbourhood and they told her that a group of foreign labourers in a nearby factory captured the dog by force and ate her. The same group of people have been eating strays for months. There is no substantial evidence that they ate the dog and eating stray dogs is not a crime in Taiwan either. The police would never bother to take this matter into their hands. Stray dogs are especially vulnerable to those consume dog meat. Unfortunately this occurrence isn’t uncommon in Taiwan.

Our rescuer immediately took the puppies in to foster and fed them milk every four hours to keep them alive. They have grown up to be healthy and escaped the cruel fate of becoming someone’s meal.

Huang Dou is beyond adorable. He looks like a little tiger with one lazy ear (calcium supplements would help). He has learned to sit, wait, shake a paw, and is currently under toilet and leash training. He would benefit from further basic obedience training.

Huang Dou has an up-to-date vaccinations including Rabies shot, de-wormed, micro-chipped, neutered (12-20-2013), tested negative for heartworm, and screw worm.

Please note Huang Dou (Soybean) is part of our international rescue efforts and will be flown to the Lower Mainland (YVR) Vancouver International Airport on the next transport ONLY if a permanent home can be found beforehand. Please consider Huang Dou (Soybean), for your new addition. There is a $450 adoption fee (bank deposit and e-transfer only) which goes to help cover only a portion of each dog's medical and transport expenses. A home check will also be required because we do want to be sure that each dog goes to an environment suited to them. Please note that we don't have shelter facility in Canada, so please consider carefully again before this adoption.
