Rescue Story

Gordy and his sister Ginny were stray puppies wandering across the building where our rescuer lives.  They were about a month old when found in December 2012.  Our rescuer thought that building’s management brought them in as guard dogs but the dogs didn’t have a shelter: always staying underneath parked cars or laying on gravel roads.  Some passerby would take pity on the puppies and give them left over human food.  Our rescuer noticed that the puppies were always missing after night falls and assumed that someone in that building must be taking care of the puppies but then our rescuer saw a notice by the building owner stating that tenants are not allowed to keep pets in their complex and dogs must be removed immediately or sent to the killing pond.  Our rescuer suspected that college students might be secretly keeping the puppies at night but let them free run outside during the day.  As the freezing winter came no one was concerned about the puppies’ health or their safety from the busy traffic.  Our rescuer decided to foster Ginny and Gordy in the hopes that they would find their own home some day.

 

Gordy would benefit further from basic obedience training.  If he doesn’t get adequate amount of exercises he may be bored and start chewing things like plastic, paper and blankets around the house.  He can be a bit nervous amongst crowds or coming across busy traffic so having a fit harness is an absolute must.  Gordy likes being in his human’s company but he also enjoys quiet alone time finding his own nooks to hide in around the house.

Gordy is neutered, up to date with routine shots, micro-chipped, de-wormed (Jan-24-2013), and tested negative for heartworm.

 

He chewed up a clothes pin and got metal ring stuck on his gum.  Had a visit the vet to take it out and fully recovered (Feb-04-2013).

If you are interested in adopting Gordy please fill out an application. We will ask for pictures of your current pets (if any) and your house inside and outside upon receipt of your application.

Please note Gordy is part of our international rescue efforts and will be flown to the Lower Mainland (YVR) Vancouver International Airport on the next transport ONLY if a permanent home can be found beforehand.  Please consider Gordy, for your new addition. There is a $400 adoption fee (bank deposit and e-transfer only) which goes to help cover only a portion of each dog's medical and transport expenses. A home check will also be required because we do want to be sure that each dog goes to an environment suited to them. Please note that we don't have shelter facility in Canada, so please consider carefully again before this adoption.
