Fun loving, affectionate, cuddly, sweet, gets along with dogs.  No cats or small children as she gets too excited and doesn't know how to control her strength.

Nian Nian is "mouthy" when she gets too excited. That is, she will jump up and bite. Obviously a very serious issue and our rescue would hate for her to be labelled "dangerous" because it is not malicious - she is trying to play. From our interactions with her, we just fold my arms and turn our back to her and she calms down. Experienced pitbull owner is preferred so she learns to keep all 4 paws on the ground and not bite.  We think she may have been trained as a guard dog in Taiwan. There has been anything other than nipping at clothes since airport arrival.  She does take treats very gently.

With training Nian Nian's behaviour can be corrected.  Our rescue would like to make sure Nian Nian's adoption family is prepared and committed to training her.

Rescue Story

Nian Nian was rescued along with her litter of puppies by a roadside in Taiwan.  She was docile and patient with her rescuers when they transported her puppies.  All of her puppies have been adopted.  While in foster care in Taiwan, she lived with many other dogs of all breeds and sizes.  She loves to play with other dogs but will leave the dogs alone if they do not want to play with her.  Her energy level is low most of the time but she gets excited quickly.  Nian Nian also loves to be around people.  She would put her head in your lap while you watch TV on the couch.  Nian Nian has been waiting for her own forever loving home for years but she hasn't received much interest due to her age and breed.  She is a quiet and loving companion and hopefully to become part of a special family.

If you are interested in adopting Nian Nian please fill out an application. We will ask for pictures of your current pets (if any) and your house inside and outside upon receipt of your application.

Please consider Nian Nian, for your new addition. There is a $350 adoption fee (bank deposit and e-transfer only) which goes to help cover only a portion of each dog's medical and transport expenses. A home check will also be required because we do want to be sure that each dog goes to an environment suited to them. Please note that we don't have shelter facility in Canada, so please consider carefully again before this adoption.
