CERA Dog Society

Nina along with another Great Dane, skinny to the bones, were found astray in a train construction site.  Nina had scars on her nose like someone wrapped wires around.  The third day that the two dogs were brought back to the shelter, Nina gave birth to a litter.  

Nina is a gentle giant with a sweet soul: well-mannered, good-tempered, loyal, affectionate and wants to be with her human all the time.  Once she’s bonded with someone, she’s very responsive to recall.  She walks perfectly on a leash.  She stops at times, of course, wanting to sniff around and read the doggy newspaper but can pick up the pace if you call her name.  She’s housetrained and will wait by the door or paws for attention if she needs to go. 

Nina is at times shy with strangers but she’s gaining confidence and would now approach people on her own terms and give them a nudge if she wants to say hi.  She can be skittish on the streets with busy traffic like when a loud squeaky bus passes by but is making steady improvement.  At home she’s basically a couch potato and loves to snuggle on the sofa and bed.  She also enjoys going out for long strolls which also help her to maintain an ideal weight to lessen stress on the joints.  Nina is looking for a calm and quiet home (no dogs, cats, and kids) with a caring and experienced handler who can provide appropriate amount of daily exercise and continuous socialization with people and dogs.
